Malaysian
hydrocarbon firm Petronas, together with Saudi major Delta Oil, will
build a $500 million gas processing plant in Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan Daily
web site UzDaily.com reported on Thursday.
The
plant will be located in the Surkhandarya region, and will process gas
received from the Gadjak gas field, as well as two other unspecified fields
in the same region.
The
gas processing plant, when completed in 2014, is expected to process 4
billion cubic meters of gas per year. The plant will begin processing gas in
2012.
The
construction on the plant will be undertaken during construction on the
Baisun investment block. Petronas last year signed a deal with the Uzbek
government to jointly develop the gas block.
Last
month, Petronas and Delta Oil agreed to form a consortium on developing Uzbek
fuel resources as part of a production-sharing agreement (PSA).
