Uzbekistan became
the third largest exporter of automobiles to Russia, Uzavtosanoat (Uzbek Automobile
Industry) joint stock company said quoting press service of the Ministry of Economic
Development of Russia.
Main exporters of
new cars to Russia were Japan (59,960 cars), Germany (19,560), Uzbekistan (18,620),
South Korea (18,470) and Great Britain (17,080).
In first three months
of 2011, the Uzbek carmaker realized 18,152 cars (67%) on the Russian market.
The volume of sales in March rose by 73% to 8,354 units.
According to the committee,
GM Uzbekistan occupied the ninth place on the volume of sales in January-March
2011.
In the first quarter
of 2011, GM Uzbekistan realized 10,802 units of Nexia cars in Russia, which grew
by 76% year-on-year, and 7,350 units of Matiz (54%).
Uzavtosanoat said
that the volume of production of GM Uzbekistan made up US$1.5 billion in 2010,
or grew by 15% year-on-year. The export of industry rose by 7.6 times.
